Product Reviews: God's Playbook: The Bible's Game Plan for Life |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: Who is the real hypocrite? Comments: Professor Mazel is the real hypocrite here. He's not a Christian and doesn't know anything about Christian theology. As a former student, I think he's a disgusting pervert with a hatred for morals and the sanctity of life--anything however Christian. He seems to be a literal who hates anything conservative. And the worst thing he can claim is Reggie White broke the Sabbath?
Anyone who has done their homework would know that the 7th day (Saturday) was the Sabbath under Old Testament law: "however the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work" - Exodus 20:10
Besides that, many Christians believe we are no longer under the Sabbath law because it was fulfilled by Jesus. We believe our Sabbath (which means rest) rest is in our Salvation through Christ and the rest we will have in heaven.
Just read Hebrews 3-4.
Also see Colossians 2:16-17: "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ." |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: A Decent Devotional And Study Book From A Unique Perspective Comments: This is a great book. I did enjoy it.
This book has 51 studies in a dozen categories. This would make a great devotional. This also would make a great study class, especially for a youth group. Reggie White, unlike almost all ministers and devotional writers, was a pro athlete, and this gives a unique perspective.
The reason it dropped down to4stars instead of5is its approach. Bible studies and devotionals and Christian books can take1of2approaches: 1) it starts with Scripture and gets to the meaning of the text and then gives thoughts and stories to help illustrate the text, or 2) it is the thoughts of the author with Scripture given to give authority to his thoughts. Many of these devotionals fit into the second category. This does not mean I disagree with Reggie. It just comes across as being him speaking, as opposed to a true Biblical exposition.
One thing that is interesting. On pages 135-137 he talks about "Tough Times do not Last", talks about a friend dying young, then concludes that he does not fear death and wants his family to celebrate his life when he leaves this earth. That turned out to be prophetic.
One other thing I wanted to comment. Reggie White was not afraid to admit his shortcomings. He did not portray himself as a person who never has problems, who always practices what he preaches. We need to give others the same impression, with a willingness to be vulnerable. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: One of The almost all Bible Literate Men to Have Lived!! Comments: Reggie White was a man of conviction. He was not concerned about wordly beleifs, his focus was on the wishes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!! For Jesus himself said "you will be persecuted for your beleif in me" and Reggie certainly has. For clarification, the true sabbath is from sundown Friday, to sundown Saturday. Man, not God chose Sunday!! It floors me when people with an agenda will spout anything that furthers their cause. Shame on the previous 2 reveiws, the tounge is definately your biggest problem. That is also in the Bible, maybe you should purchase1to read!! Awesome honest Book!! God Bless all who read it, and discern with actual scripture in hand. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Preach it, brother!! I like that!! Comments: This caught my attention!! It's not an autobiography, however then again, it is in a sense. It is a book of day by day devotionals by an awesome man who loves The Lord. Hey, he takes the approach from different experiences he has had. This was a simple approach to a devotional, and that's what it was meant to be. What a pity that people still feel the need to bash this man. He deserves to be praised!! Reggie White, awesome book!! Keep it up. He will certainly hear the words, "Well done, great and faithful servant!!" Because in the midst of all the controversy, despite the petty name calling, Reggie White is on the right side!! Preach it, brother!!!! I like that!!!! |
