Product Reviews: The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: A great book!! Comments: The book, Lightroom2 by Scott Kelby, is a great resource book for those learning1of the best ways to manage thousands of photos on their computer. Scott spends much time describing how to set-up a photo management system. He does it such a matter-of-fact way that it makes learning Lightroom2 sound simplistic. Once1begins to employ the lessons does1learn that Lightroom is a full feature program that allows for many ways to use it that it is a great idea to have a roadmap (Kelby's book) before beginning the journey. A year ago I migrated from Microsoft to Apple because I wanted to do advanced work in photo editing and presentation work. The books by Kelby on photography and on how to use Adobe Photoshop and its related programs have saved me much time and frustration. |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: Lightroom 2 review Comments: This is a well written and illustrated instruction manual on the use of Lightroom 2. It is complete and progresses in a logical and understandable manner. The author, Scott Kelby, is a master at explaining the features of this software. He is quite erudite in his explainations and this may be far more information than is necessary for the use of this product. The text is quite useful as a reference to all the features of Lightroom and is a welcome addition to any digital library. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Great for Step by Step instructions. Comments: This is my second Kelby book book, and it's better than ever. If you are the kind of person that likes step-by-step instructions with lots of visual images, this is the book for you. Scott doesn't get deep into the "why" things work, however focuses on "how". If you need to know the why, consider another publication. And yes, Kelby does a few jokes here and there, however it make for more interesting reading in my opinion. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Must for all editing pros Comments: I am a professional photographer and had been using Lightroom for over a year before I got this book and probably edited close to 30,000 pictures with the software. I thought I new Lightroom pretty well until I came across this book in the bookstore and was amazed by all I still had to learn. This book is incredibly easy to understand with step-by-step instructions. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Eone needs a Lightroom Book Comments: I have been using Lightroom 1 for a couple of years and I am pretty great with software. So I just "played around" with it and thought I was getting reasonable use of Lightroom for an amateur photobuff. however after reading this book, I realized I was just scratching the surface. Lightroom is a whole new way of thinking and integrating a workflow into your life is more than just fancy buzzwords.
I will not repeat the other review contents, however I want to emphasis, get this book (or another book like Martin Evening's). you will get a lot more out of Lightroom that way. |
