Product Reviews: Grace Points: Growth and Guidance in Times of Change |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: An island oasis of hope Comments: I read Grace Points after the death of my twin sister at 42 and my father within 47 days of each other. Jane's warm & inviting writing style, many story examples from her own journeys through desert times, insightful quotes, carefully selected scripture verses and creative journaling suggestions helped me navigate the cauldron of emotions I was experiencing. Jane calls these wilderness times search and rescue attempts from God to bring us back to our own hearts...and HIS. That is exactly the "bounty" I came away with reading this book. Jane reminds you God is great and hope lives!! |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Life changing and healing Comments: Jane has written a masterpiece!!!! This book brought me to a deeper understanding of God's presence in my life through all my transitions (which include marriage, 3 babies, 3 moves, a serious health crisis all in 7 years) It is an excellent choice for a women's book study however can also be a great resource to use outside of a group.
Jane is insightful and deeply spiritual. I was blessed with much grace by reading this book. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Relevant and Encouraging Comments: Over the past year I have changed jobs, moved across the country, and started a new relationship. All these changes have been great, however still challenging. When I purchased up Grace Points I did not know what to expect, however Jane's insights were so on target that I felt like she had been reading my journal. Her book helped me think through my reactions to all the change in my life and I started to sort through and understand why I felt the way I did. I definitely endorse Grace Points to anyone undergoing change. I am going to read it again!! |

I have gotten SO much out of it. After going thru years of turmoil with family illnesses, death, moving, another child, my life has been a rollercoaster ride. This book has gently taken me to places where I was afraid to go by myself. It articulates what I feel when I can not put words together. It has brought healing, understanding, hope, and peace to my life. Jane's writing style is so readable and rich. You can go over a chapter multiple times and it is like peeling an onion. -there is always more to touch you and teach you. Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: A lifeline in the midst of change Comments: A life shift - the loss of a relationship, a cancer diagnosis, infertility, relocation to a new community, marriage or divorce, a conflict within the church, a job promotion or the unexpected loss of a job - thrusts us into a place that often feels like a desolate desert. Sojourners can either shrivel up or survive the wilderness; or, as the author shares from personal experience, can grow and be fruitful even in midst of transition. Regardless of whether the journey is for a few brief days or many long years, Grace Points by Jane Rubietta will be a lifeline for direction, hope, encouragement, and support. Written in a descriptive and creative style, the book is organized for use in individual or group study, or with a friend. Each chapter opens with a principle of stillness; is interspersed with practical tips and catalysts for response; and closes with a hymn that reflects God's heart, and Scripture of the Israelite's journey toward the Promised Land. After reading only a few pages, the reader will realize she is not alone. The author's empathy and spiritual vulnerability lit the path for me to catch a glimpse of God's presence and purpose in the midst of blowing dust and scorching heat. This book was not a quick-read-not because it was difficult to understand however because I took time to sit down in the sand and drink in the refreshing and comforting words. I laughed, I cried, I prayed, I worshipped. And I walked away with an appreciation of the desert of transitions as a place that shifts my trust to God, and with a keen awareness of the opportunities for choices...God's "grace points".
