Product Reviews: D-Link DUB-H7 High Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Hub |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: Nearly Perfect Performance Comments: I purchased this hub to use multiple USB devices at the same time with my Sony VAIO laptop, which only has2USB ports. From the minute I plugged it in and connected all my equipment it worked nearly perfectly. I was able to burn a DVD with an external USB burner while the .iso file I was writing to disc was stored on an external USB hard drive. Both devices were connected to the PC via the D-Link DUB-7 USB hub. So the data was streaming from the external drive to the hub to the PC back to the hub and finally to the burner. It worked fine. Other hubs I have owned in the past had failed this test miserably. My only disappointment is that a USB optical mouse that works when I plug into the PC USB ports does not function while connected to the hub. I do not know why. The PC thinks the mouse is a new device and tried to download the driver from the web however it fails. This may not be the D-Link hub's fault however who knows?
Overall a great item. Better than many competitors. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Perfect Comments: Perfect for my needs now Im not trying to find extra USB ports on the computer. |
Rating: 1 (out of 5) Summary: Must Change Plugs E Time You Turn Computer On. Comments: The hub I got requires me to re-plug my usb cords in to a different position e time I turn the computer on or my devices will not work. D-Link customer service is an even worse joke. After waiting on hold for over 30 minutes (twice) I was disconnected. As I did not use this right away it was too late to return. Money totally wasted. A piece of garbage. |
Rating: 2 (out of 5) Summary: Practically useless Comments: Purchased so that I could plug my keyboard, mouse, and external harddrive into my laptop. Works wonderfully powering the drive, which would not power itself off the computers built in hub, however has major intermittent keyboard/mouse issues. I am using a Microsoft Natural Ergo 4000 and a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer - neither have given me problems plugged directly into the computer or other computers, however plugged in to this hub I get mouse dropouts (even the laser light blinks out) and repeated key presses (e 1-30min, the last key I pressed will get typed a dozen times). This makes it incredibly frustrating when typing, and removes the value in the device. I have since plugged the keyboard/mouse directly into the computer and just have the harddrive on the hub - just as much of a pain as it was before when I have to plug/unplug ething to move. |
Rating: 1 (out of 5) Summary: Does not do what it's supposed to do; terrible tech support and customer service Comments: Simply put, this product fails to do what it's supposed to do.
Even plugged in, it still does not seem to draw enough power to supply more than3plugged items reliably. I had a keyboard, dongle, MIDI interface and USB DAW controller plugged in, and each time I restarted my computer, a different item would be unrecognized.
I tried tech support, and they were useless. Furthermore, they HUNG UP ON ME. Twice.
Finally a 'senior tech' issued an RMA for me to replace it, however I wasn't about to spend $10 to ship them a $30 unit, only to have it replaced with an IDENTICAL unit that probably wouldn't work as well. (There are plenty of other bad reviews here to corroborate my suspicions.)
I emailed customer support asking for a refund, however they simply chose to ignore my emails. I even told them that I would be posting my bad experience here, however apparently they decided that they would rather have the bad publicity than issue a $30 refund. Tells you something about the company, doesn't it? |
