Summary: Workhorse lasted for 6 years
Comments: I purchased this modem 6 years ago when I had problems with the Comcast rental unit - and their rental price. It has worked solidly and reliably for 5.75 of those 6 years and I am now replacing it with the 5101. It seems the power supply in the 5100 is failing as it needs pretty constant reboots now, however it was a great modem and I am happy to stick with Surfboard for my next one. |

Summary: Short life-span
Comments: I have had this modem for about 2 years, and it worked fine until about a month ago. Now, at random times, it loses it's connection to the internet and must be rebooted to get it working again. This happens at least once a day. I had a Motorola modem previously, and it also died after a couple of years. Perhaps my expectations are unrealistic, however I expect more than 2 years service from a modem. I am replacing it with a Linksys CM100. |

Comments: This cable modem is a Work Horse, I have had it for sometime now and never a problem with it. It may be an older model however It is still Kickig out the Jams!! Great product!! |

Summary: Old Unreliable...
Comments: I do not know if it's my modem or my ISP...however for some reason my Internet connection keeps getting lost. I have had this modem for about a year now and almost all of the time it does what it's supposed to do. E now and then, however--sometimes for a day and sometimes for weeks--it loses its commnection. Then I have to unplug it, reset it, plug it back in...see if it works.... If it doesn't, I have to do it again...maybe call my ISP on the phone....
I get a lot of downtime when I should be online and productive. Shop around. I figure there must be something more reliable than this out there. |

Summary: Was great for a year and then....
Comments: Like other reviwers stated, works fine for awhile then gradually gets worse and worse. After about 1 year mine had trouble connecting all the time. Now I have switched it out I have had no problems connecting since. |
