Summary: Easy and quick
Comments: Have only used this unit as a rice cooker. Easy to prepare. Convienent cooking at the push of a howeverton with cooking times automatic. Cooker bowl cleans up easy. Perfect size for 2-3 people depending on portions wanted. Compact for easy storage.
May have to adjust the amount of water added as rice was a little sticky 1st time around. |

Summary: Rice turns bad the same day
Comments: The sanyo rice cooker is aweful. I am asian, and I have cooked rice my whole life. I thought the product would be decent based upon the reviews. It cooks the rice decent, however you can not keep it warm for a day, the rice turns yellow. |

Summary: Excellent rice cooker!!
Comments: This is now our third rice cooker. We do not use it e day, however I do make a number of dishes frequently that require rice. The ability to dump rice and water and press a howeverton makes this worthwhile.
Previous cookers either scorched the rice on the bottom and/or made a nasty disgusting mass of starch. Not so here. Handy markers inside tell you how much water to add depending on the amount of rice you are cooking. The timer function allows you to set a time when you want the rice - handy if you know that your meal will be ready at a specific time and do not want to worry about making sure you start the rice at the right time.
The biggest benefit I get out of this model over previous models is it's clean while cooking. Lower models have a steam vent that winds up blowing starchy water all over the counter. The design of the Sanyo pretty much prevents that, with only hot steam coming out the top (so do not use it directly below a cabinet).
If you are looking at this compared to a $20 cooker, save yourself the time and regrets and just get this model. |

Summary: Definitely worth purchasing
Comments: I went back and forth between this1and a more expensive Zojirushi machine, however ultimately decided to save around $50 and get this model. For our 2 person household, it's a great machine.
Pros:
- Set it and forget it rice making. I do not have to watch the pot.
- Multiple settings for rice, porridge, brown rice, etc. I have even cooked polenta and risotto perfectly in here.
- Easy cleanup due to the stick free surfaces.
- Retractable electric cord so it doesn't go all over our counters. Why doesn't e appliance have this?
Cons:
- Manual is a bit obtuse, however the machine isn't that complicated
- The top part where the steam vent is becomes somewhat hard to clean
- There is a piece of paper under the bowl - make sure you take it out before you cook with it the 1st time!! |
