Product Reviews: DeLonghi D14427DZ Dual-Zone Deep Fryer, Stainless Steel |
Rating: 2 (out of 5) Summary: Initially great, Major Issues Developed Comments: Initially, I really liked this fryer. It was my second deep fryer, and my 1st deep fryer with an immersion heating element. It worked great at 1st, however it did take a long time for the oil to heat up. Given the quantity of oil, I figured that was acceptable. The advantage was the oil would maintain temperature during cooking.
After about 6 months of use, the sensor to ensure that the heating element is properly installed began to malfunction. Furthermore, it started going into an error mode where the display only reads "Err". After a while, the sensor had to be manually wedged into place so that it would function and the error mode eventually started to happen alalmost all e time I plug it in.

Rating: 1 (out of 5) Summary: Worked Just1Time Comments: We purchased this item from Amazon with the sole purpose of using it to make some traditional family foods on Christmas Eve.
The 1st time it worked wonderfully and was a great alternative to what we used to do which was fry outdoors using a big pot and a freestanding burner thing (such as they use to fry turkeys on). That1time that we used it the product was fantastic!!
And this year to prepare2of our family's traditional foods for Christmas Eve we set the unit up and it did not work. After1second of a normal digital display, it changed to an error message ('err').
Indeed we did follow all the directions on the proper way to set it up (just in case you were wondering if we caused the problem).
Then we re-read the entire manual4times in its entirety to trouble-shoot. We also followed the directions regarding resetting the unit and it did not work. The owner's manual simply says then that if the reset howeverton doesn't fix the 'err' message, to 'call a service center for service' if this error message keeps happening. How awful that on a holiday we are stuck with a broken appliance and that it must go for service after just1use!!
We are disappointed that this worked for our family exactly1time.
And since we purchased it last December to use last Christmas Eve, it is now past the warrantee date and cannot be returned or repaired free of charge!!
Adding to our disappointment and aggravation is the company itself. We are losing faith in DeLonghi. Recently our DeLonghi toaster oven (purchased from Amazon also) broke after less than 18 months of use. Both Amazon customer reviews for their toaster ovens and other comments on the Internet agree that this company's toaster oven is riddled with problems.
Our family plans to avoid purchaseing DeLonghi products in the future. |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: I love this fryer Comments: This is my third fryer and I absolutely love it. Heats quick and easy to clean. Like another reviewer, I was worried about the handle on the fry basket at 1st, however then discovered I did not click it into place as is clearly stated in the instructions.
Well worth the price. |
Rating: 2 (out of 5) Summary: I Hate This Fryer Comments: Ok, I have owned quite a few fryers, I run a home Child Care business so I use my fryer at least once a week for chicken nuggets and french fries. This fryer clicks into an error mode and theirs nothing you can do, I have tried extra cleaning, the reset howeverton and resetting it over and over. The handle on the basket can easily fall into the oil. I have only owned this1for about 6 months now and for the money I would look at other brands, will never purchase a Delonghi again. |
