KitchenAid KPCM050PM Pro Line Single-Carafe Coffee Maker
Rating: 5 (out of 5)
Summary: A simple tweak or two
Comments: Since I am a restaurant chef I bring home coffee filters from the commercial Bunn or any other commercial machine and they fit perfectly in the kitchen aid giving plenty of space for grounds. They are at least an inch taller. Incidentally the commercial size gold filters fit in the kitchen aid as well. I found the original filters too small to make a large pot of coffee. Think about it. 1-2 tbs per cup is the recomended amount. 12 cups could be from 12-24 tbs of coffee or a cup to a cup and a half of ground coffee. It will not fit in the regular size filters without overflowing all over. The commercial filters are sold by the 1000ct and are about 1/10 of the price.

Summary: A superior product!!
Comments: do not listen to those below who complain of the condensation from the carafe. Simply turning the carafe to the left or right just slightly, prevents this problem should it occur(It never has for me). This coffee maker is a great performer making wonderful tasting coffee. It is also easy to clean up and appears sharp on your counter. I strive to purchase KitchenAid when purchasing larger counter top appliances because they simply work well and are built to take a long years of use.

This product is no exception. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Outstanding, really HOT coffee
Comments: I purchased my ProLine coffee maker from acehardwareoutlet over a year ago and this unit, pared with the KitchenAid ProLine grinder, makes honestly outstanding coffee. I roast all of my own coffee beans and am pretty much a coffee snob when it comes to quality coffee. The ProLine brews at the proper temperature (200°F plus) and brews a full pot in about 7 or 8 minutes. These are both necessary to extract the best flavors from the coffee beans. The rating may be for 4.5 ounce cups of coffee, however these will probably be the best 4.5 ounce cups of coffee you have ever brewed.

Add great quality coffee and great water and that makes the winning combination for the best of the best cup of coffee. The brewer is easy to use, built like a tank, attractive on the countertop. The condensation problem has been solved and the new paint finish will hopefully be more durable than the original paint. If not, KitchenAid will replace the unit, as customer service is as great as this coffee maker.
I have owned a lot of different brewers over the years. This is the best coffee brewer I have ever owned or used, hands down.

Summary: Great Coffeee Maker
Comments: If you want a coffee maker that is built like a tank the KitchenAid Pro coffeemaker is a great choice. I have owned the coffee maker for 7 months and I am pleased with it.It brews a great cup of coffee.

Despite what some have said the coffee maker is well made and built like a commerical unit--it weighs over 20 pounds.
The manual is well written and the machine is easy to program. It is quiet and typically takes 6 to 8 minutes to brew depending on how fine you grind your coffee.

1)If you do purchase this machine do get the gold basket filter--the coffee
does taste better with it.
2) Also consider purchaseing the water filter.

My only complaint is that the warming plate that the carafe sits on keeps the coffee too hot and it will become rancid if it kept on too long.

If you can afford it this is a great machine to have.

Summary: it has a redesigned spout!!
Comments: I have had the machine for a few months now. It is a great coffee maker. The complaints about the steam and spout are out-dated as the new spout simply eliminates these issues.

I am a fussy coffee drinker (nut). I roast my own beans with several different blends. I have tried many electric drip coffee makers and found almost all to be unusable.

To extract the best flavor, coffee makers need a 1200 watt (mimimum) heating element, excellent dispersal of the water over the coffee and the water must be just below boiling as it hits the coffee. The proline does all this well.

To nit-pick: the filter basket is plastic which is inserted into a stainless steel holder. This, and the fact that the filter head is plastic, are the2design flaws of the unit. Plastic retains odors and tastes and just doesn't clean as well or easily as stainless steel. I would have hoped that for this price these parts, especially the filter holder, would be metal!!1last thing, if the coffee could be held in the brew basket for about a minute before dripping into the carafe, it would extract the best of the coffee.

To be fair, I haven't seen a consumer unit with a stainless steel filter holder.

As a warning. I have tried several Kitchenaid coffee makers in the past and all, except this one, had to be returned. While Kitchenaid's non-proline consumer models were tops many years ago, they haven't been great (an understatement) in many, many years.

The Proline is a keeper, it makes hot, excellent coffee.
