Rating: 1 (out of 5) Summary: Made by Mattel Comments: Just to let anyone who might be interested in this product know that this poor excuse for a chainsaw should say by Mattel or Fisher-Price because this is just a toy. I am not the backwoods redneck who wants to chop down a forest, I just had a few saplings that have gotten out of hand that I wanted to clean up. I have purchased other Black & Decker items that I really liked so I thought this would be great for me. What I found when I opened the box was a blade about half the length of a real chainsaw and cheap, lightweight, flimsy plastic housing. I knew right then I should pack it back up and return it however decided to give it a chance. I plugged the battery and charger in for a day, put the chainsaw together and the next week walked outside to cut down my 1st tree(about 8 inches around)it has yet to come down. I have my wedge cut in the front of the tree. I still have to cut the backside for it to fall. Each cut has completely drained the battery. Each cut also took a great 20 minutes. So not only does it have no power it has no durability. Outside of trimming some hedges I am not sure what the intended purpose of this piece of junk is. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Near perfection!! Highly endorseed!! Comments: This is an excellent, QUIET tool for yard clean-up and pruning. designed for branches in the 1 1/2" - 2 range, also great on 3" and 4"ers. Advertised as capable of 150 1-1/2" cuts on a charge--and I believe it!!--Have cut up to 6" logs with no problem, although that does drain the battery quickly. A 6"er is, by volume, the equivalent of at least 16 1-1/2" cuts, and with the extra drag of cutting across a 6"inch face, is probably more like 32 cuts. Use this tool for what it's designed for, and it will not disappoint!! Why is that negative reviewer talking about cutting 2x4s? that's what your circular saw is four!! do you also drive nails with your screwdriver?
PRO: lightweight, no noise, no stink, no fuel!! CON: it does leak oil. minor irritation. |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: pleased Comments: This Black & Decker Cordless Chain Saw is excellent for small to medium trees and general use in the back yard. It is light weight and not clumsy to handle. Only complaint is that the oil holder is not large enough because it uses up the oil too quickly. Could design the equipment to use less oil. |
Rating: 4 (out of 5) Summary: Grooming chairman for snowmobile club gives thumbs up Comments: My favorite saw!! We use chainsaws all year around to keep our snowmobile trails clear. In the winter months, almost all of the trees that we come across are small trees bent over the road from heavy snow load. Getting out1of the big saws takes time to get it started and running properly before being able to use it. This little saw is perfect for those small and quick cuts. It is light and small and super easy to use. We can keep it inside the snow cat under the seat. No gas fumes, no power cords. 1great battery will last almost all of the day. However, anything larger than5to6inches is a huge battery drain and is best handled by1of our gas saws. Our club has2of these saws and2of the Black & Decker 18-volt polesaws for tree limbing. Wonderful products. Only thing that I would like to see improved is auto chain oiling. This saw has a thumb pushhoweverton, and the polesaw comes with a small oil bottle. |
