Product Reviews: Logitech 970223-0403 X-540 5.1 Speaker System (Black) |
Rating: 1 (out of 5) Summary: do not purchase this unless you love clutter and lousy sound Comments: This is1lousy product. Unless mine was defective, which I doubt, this is not for the discriminating listener. It has a loud, disgusting hiss. Terrible sound, and horrendous mess of wires and speakers ewhere. I thought the volume of bulk would pay off on sound quality. I was wrong. Enough said. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Great product Comments: To be honest, I wouldn't have left a review unless I was greatly pleased with the product. These speakers definitely have power and for the price I paid, I would have to say that it was the best 80 dollars spent. I do not have any negative things to say about these speakers. If your looking for speakers with a reasonable price and quality sound, these are the speakers for you. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: purchase These Comments: I did not expect these speakers to be that great, however once i put them in my 4 bedroom apt, it filled the whole place with music. Great speakers and I am loving the great sound quality they have, no static at all!! |
Rating: 3 (out of 5) Summary: Affordable desktop surround for gaming and movies Comments: I owned these for 29 days before I returned them.
Overall for the price, they weren't too bad. The surround is great, the speakers can pack a decent punch for their size, and the sub is quite strong. The sense of 'being there' was great for games that supported surround. Watching movies was definitely quite enjoyable using these.
As others have mentioned, the cables for the speakers are way too short. Fortunately they use standard RCA connections, so getting extension cables is easy (albeit an additional cost). Besides that, setting up is pretty easy, and I do like the center speaker's ability to sit on top of my monitor.
However, where I feel these speakers really let me down is with music. I tried setting the speakers in various different places at different distances and angles. I tried using the 'matrix mode', my X-Fi card's own stereo expander and just regular 2.1, however the speakers never really sounded great. The high-ends lack clarity, the mid-tones lack strength, and the sub seems a bit loose from the whole sound-world.
In conclusion, if you are looking for just a gaming and/or movie surround set, and do not intend to use them for music much, they're certainly worth their cost. however if like me, you listen to music a lot on the same speakers as you play games, I'd put in the extra buck and get something more suited. And that is why I decided to return them. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Perfect speakers Comments: The speakers are perfect. Sound quality is amazing. Would be better if the speakers were wireless. The cords are long, so positioning them is easy. |
