Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Review of Amazon's Service - 10 STARS!! Comments: I just wanted to type up this review today because I was really impressed with the service that I got from Amazon. I purchased a 2 year subscription to Cosmo on 11/15/08 and I just received the 1st issue today, 12/3/08. That's only a little over 2 weeks and nowhere near the 6-10 weeks that it was supposed to take. Normally I miss an issue or2waiting for my subscription to start up, however that wasn't the case this time. I received the December issue with Jessica Simpson on the cover, the same issue that was on news stands when I paid for my subscription through Amazon. How incredible is that? I am totally impressed and I'll definitely place all my magazine subscriptions through Amazon from now on. They offer great discounts and sales on them and the service you receive is top notch. Thanks!! |
Rating: 1 (out of 5) Summary: All Style, No Substance Comments: After casually flipping through Cosmo while waiting in line at the grocery store when I was in college, I finally decided to subscribe, and boy did I regret it. I was hoping to enjoy Cosmo as my monthly guilty pleasure, however what I got was an incredibly banal reading experience. The fashion, hair, and skin tips are not bad, however similar advice can easily be found in several better magazines.
Cosmo however, became a cultural staple because of the promise of its cover teasers. Yet, for anyone over the age of 14, the articles that these teaser headlines offer are uninformative and generally useless. By the third month of my subscription I realized that if you read1issue of Cosmo, you really do not need to read another one. They are all the same!! Cosmo masquerades as an empowering lifestyle magazine for fashionable women in their 20s, however as a woman in that demographic, I found this magazine to be a colossal bore of recycled (not to mention really prosaic) sex-tips and retrograde advice that will set women back a great forty years. Needless to say, I did not renew my subscription. I subscribed to Self and Women's Health instead, and I am much more impressed with their overall content. I will however warn that Self and WH are low on beauty and fashion content, so I am thinking about subscribing to Glamour or Marie Claire to compensate for these shortcomings.

Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Cosmopolitan Subscription Comments: The price was lower than other advertised subscriptions by alalmost all $10, which was great at $15 for a full year. The length of time it took for the subscription to start was remarkable. I ordered it for my daughter-in-law for her birthday, and her 1st issue arrived exactly on her birthday, which was only2weeks after I placed the order. pleased customer!! |
