Product Reviews: Hyde Dust Dog Pole Sander Kit for Dustless Drywall Sanding |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Stop eating dust... Comments: I have used this while doing a kitchen renovation and it has worked well. I think it is largely going to depend on whether the vacuum/ shopvac that you are using is strong enough and filtered well enough, however ours has worked great. Not really even any dust left on the wall. Any pole sander is a little unwieldy and the hose adds a bit of bulk, however it's been worth the minor annoyance of dealing with the hose to not have to entomb the area you are working on in plastic & dropcloths. I'd highly endorse this product. I do not know how well it'd stand up in a professional application, however for the do it yourselfer with the occasional project, this is great. Well worth the money when you consider the time savings and the health benefits of not inhaling the dust. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Great for the Low $$$ Cost!! Comments: I am supper pleased with my purchase. I was on the fence on this however the strong reviews and the fact it is made in Canada sold me on giving it a shot. Works great!! The pole takes a bit to get used to however other than that it's a rocker. For the cost you will be more than happy. Do it. |
Rating: 3 (out of 5) Summary: Works okay however there are better alternatives Comments: i purchased this product in the hopes that it would help sand all the walls in my house as we're in the process of skim coating. after using it a few times i think the product is just "okay". it tends to flip over quite easily when you are sanding and it doesn't really take off that much material.
for not much more money you can find a nice palm sander with dust pickup. i got a black and decker palm sander at target for around $35. that plus the higher variety of grit in sandpaper means you can attach some 60 grit to your palm sander and really level the surface out quickly. you can perforate the paper for dust pickup and it removes MUCH more material much quicker than this pole sanding contraption did. the only downside of it, of course, is that you have to get on a ladder to get the tops of the walls.
i could see the dust dog being useful for sanding down mud from taping, however for skim coating i did not find it useful at all. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: excellent item-however you can make it better by using perforated paper Comments: This set-up is excellent, however I have never like sanding screens, so I took1of the perforated 9" discs that Ames sells for the big Porter Cable drywall sander and cut it down to fit on the pole sander. You leave the screen on and the hook and loop on the paper clings to the screen. You do not get a perfect fit because the disc is not big enough, however close. I e-mailed Ames to see it they would supply this paper cut for pole sanders, so far no reply. |
Rating: 5 (out of 5) Summary: Great product Comments: Works just like they say it does. Dust-free sanding is the only way to go. |
