Summary: It is perfect for what I need it for Rating: 5 out of 5 Date: 2009-05-30 The camera is compact and simple to use. The howevertons are the perfect size for small Japanese women's fingers however I knew they would be small. Video quality is nice when set to UHQ (ultra high quality) mode... you probably will not want to use anything less than that mode. Of course, like any compact camera with a small light sensor (which all compact digital cameras have) pictures in low lighting conditions like indoors and evening and night can be touchy...they blur easily and the digital image stabilization is not as effective as the image stabilization in a larger camera. However, I knew this purchaseing it and I am enjoying its small footprint, high video quality, ease of use, quick shutter/picture reco time, and it is hardly noticeable in my pocket. Also, I find the sound recording option unique and have used it a few times at a concert and to record a woodpecker although, it is not a professional sound recording device.

Summary: 3rd time is a charm Rating: 4 out of 5 Date: 2009-05-28 This is my 3rd Exilim and I am sure I'll purchase a 4th; as a matter of fact, I think there are at least5of these cameras in our family since I purchased the 1st one. The reason I am on my 3rd is because I am tough on these cameras; I take it ewhere, from a night on the town, on camping trips, fishing, hiking the desert... where ever I go. It is small, lightweight, quick and easy to use and takes great pictures/video for it's size. Keep it dry and try not to bang it around to much and you will get thousands of pictures you may not have gotten with a larger more cumbersome camera.

Summary: Couldn't be happier Rating: 5 out of 5 Date: 2009-05-25 This is a great little camera.
Now, I am the kind of person who researches pretty much ething before making a purchase. I was looking for an affordable, small, great quality camera. I was about to make the decision bewteen a Sony or a Canon however I had difficulty with both, Sony uses it's own memory card type and Canon did not have a rechargeable battery.
however luckily I came across this Casio camera. Right out of the box I could tell that the build quality was fantastic. It's small, compact, and doesn't feel 'cheap'.
Now on to the picture quality, it's great enough. I am not expecting spectacular quality photos from a camera in this price range. however I can say I was mildly surprised. The quality is fine for vacations and family times.
Now on to the video quality, what a shock that was!! I am pleased to say that I no longer need a video camera!! :) It is crisp, clear, and the audio is great too.1of the best features is that there is a record howeverton, press it and you are recording. Simple as that.
great camera, highly endorse!!

Summary: Video from Casio Exilim ex-z80 Rating: 5 out of 5 Date: 2009-05-18 Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2UZK81CR67346 I was playing around with my son's camera and just wanted to show how nice it captured video. The video is even nicer when I play on my computer and also burned to DVD. I also posted some pictures above so you could see. If you play around with the camera, you will find it gives amazingnly clear, vivid photos. I was so impressed with Chase's camera, I went and purchased the Casio Exilim ex-z85. (Same camera however with the 9.1mega pixels. I posted a revied for that camera (with photos) as well. This camera really does take nice photos and video and I highly endorse!!
Note I found the best quality by playing with the picture quality as far asmega pixel count, contrast, sharpness and staturatin (increasing those). Once you find the settings that work for you and overall take the nicesest photos, go in to the Best Shot feature (BS) howeverton at bottom right of camera, choose Register User Scene, and then it will ask you which photo to use (choose1of the photos that you took at the settings you like and then it will save it under Best Shot). That way when you want to those settings again, turn camera on, press best shot howeverton, choose that photo, and it will change the settings to what you used to take that photo you liked. Works nicely.

Summary: a great movie machine, an acceptable still camera Rating: 4 out of 5 Date: 2009-05-14 The only demerit I can give this camera is for the quality of the lens. If you like landscapes, this is not the camera for you as there is noticeable distortion and lack of focus at the perimeter of the images. If you take a landscape picture and try to use it as wallpaper on your PC - you will not be happy with the result. You cannot expect a great lens for $100!! however this is no problem with movies (see below).
If snapshots and pictures of people are your thing, this camera will work fine. The focusing ability is quick and accurate, color is great and the flash is fine for providing even illumination. The macro mode is particularly nice for extreme closeups of flowers (macro is selected automatically if you pick the best-shot "flower" setting)
The ability to assign functions for the left and right arrow howevertons is much appreciated - I use them for quickly changing the exposure between area and spot modes, often needed when I have high contrast in the subject matter.
almost all settings can be assigned to remain in effect even after you have turned off the camera, so whatever your favorite kind of photography, you can avoid having to set things up e time you turn it on. A wide selection of "best shot" modes are easily chosen and you can even make your own.1of the best shot settings is for audio only - so you can use the camera as a sound recorder.
Where this camera is really a steal is in making movies. The resolution is quite a bit lower than with still photos (as it is with all still cams that can also make movies) however that masks the lens flaws mentioned above. I purchased this camera specifically for the movie-making capability and couldn't be happier with the result: smooth 30 frame-per-second takes, great color, low noise and decent audio unless it is a windy day.
The special "video" howeverton allows you to take a movie at any time without having to fuss with a menu selection. You can even capture a still shot while shooting a movie, though it will cause a momentary pause in the movie.
If you plan on extensive movie shoots, say over 15 minutes, an extra charged battery wouldn't be a bad idea, however the secret of great movies is being sparing in the amount of time you shoot, especially since uploading to YouTube takes 10 to 15X the actual time of the movie
The EX-Z80 is a great purchase.
