    Product Description:

The 16-Port 10-100-1000 Gigabit Switch supplies non-blocking, wire speed switching for your 10, 100, and 1000 megabit network clients. Drop this switch in place of your current workgroup hub or switch, and you can upgrade your high-requirement workstations to full Gigabit speeds as necessary, while continuing to service other clients at their current speeds. Or build your network from the ground up, with appropriate link speeds for each user's requirements. Either way, it's perfect for graphics, multimedia, and other applications that have to move large files across the network quickly. With the 16-Port 10-100-1000 Gigabit Switch, you can connect your existing 10-100 Ethernet network to a Gigabit server backbone without any additional equipment. All ports have automatic MDI and MDI-X crossover detection, so you do not have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently and automatically negotiates for best speed and whether to run in half- or full-duplex mode. Address learning and aging is supported, as well as 802.3x flow control with head-of-line blocking prevention to keep your high-speed clients from bogging down in lower-speed traffic. quick store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on into the network.

    Summary: do not purchase it!!!!!!!!!!
    Rating: 1 out of 5   Date: 2009-02-06
I purchased this switch in June of 2008. On January 12, 12 of 16 ports died. Sent back to Linksys for replacement with lifetime warranty. Still on backorder. E-mails are never answered. Have called several times. What use is the warranty on a bad product if the manufacturer can not get a replacement. Avoid the Linksys switches.

I purchased the Linksys SR2016 11/26/07. 12 of 16 ports are now dead. So it lasted amazingly alalmost all exactly 13 months. We've contacted Linksys and they want the old unit back before they will send a new one!! What am I supposed to do with my business for those days? The other option is to pay $75.00 for 'Quick Turnaround' of1day deli. I think that is BS. When you purchase Linksys do not be fooled into thinking its Cisco quality.
The latest update is the product is on backorder at the local warehouse. I had to go purchase a $25 5 port 10/100 switch and plug it into1of the working ports of the SR2016 to give me a few more links for the meantime.

Summary: do not Waste your Money....$$$$

I have been doing Network Consulting and Repair for years and have always used Linksys products. Maybe I am just "jumping to conclusions", however the quality of Linksys seems to have taken a dive after Cisco purchased the company. I have lost numerous Switches and Routers that seem to last 12 to 18 months. I now call them "13 month wonders", because they last just outside the warranty period. I feel that Cisco is trying to encourage the higher end products by causing the Linksys products to have premature failures. Just my conspiracy theory.....
I started using some Encore Products (which I consider cheap and not well made), however these products have outlasted the Linksys gear.
