    Product Reviews:

    Summary: Works great
    Rating: 4 out of 5   Date: 2008-12-16
I mainly got this for an older computer and apply tougher Encryption methods, however can see more uses in the future. I actually had to go online at the linksys forum and get a better idea on how to hook it up. Once ething was in play it works like a charm.

Summary: Great product, Configuration pamplet lacking
    Rating: 4 out of 5   Date: 2008-12-09
Hardware install took seconds, open, plug in power, ethernet to PC. viola. Have not yet tried the Power Over Ethernet feature.

Software took a bit of work, however after maybe half hour figured it out. It's not as simple as the pamplet says, at least not for me. I needed to input the gateway and DNS both on the bridge and the PC connected to the bridge, then I was up and running.

Speed is great, my desktop, via the brige, gets 2x the download speed compared to my laptop, connected wireless to the gateway router.

Only been running an hour or2however I am impressed so far.

Summary: Item faulty from Linksys, terrible customer support.
    Rating: 1 out of 5   Date: 2008-12-05
I purchased this item based on the reviews I had read on various sites. I also have various Linksys (Cisco) items and based on voodoo, I like to keep all my networking items the same brand.

As directed, I set up a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.226 and tried to connect to the bridge user interface, however no luck; it simply would not accept the default user name and password of "admin". I tried hard reset 4 times, tried different computers all to no avail. The support website is worthless, however in their defense, there is not alot to setting up a bridge and by this time I figured I had bad firmware however could not update it if I could not get into the user interface!! (The bridge was working cause I could ping it). So I gave up and called India tech support...after 30 minutes of worthless help they came to the same conclusion I had: faulty firmware and I sent it back to Amazon.

FWIW, I will ask for a replacement although I have found some Linksys products are really buggy these days after Cisco took them over. My other items WRT54GX2 and my little 5 port Linksys switch work great. Their media adapter and gaming bridge suck. We will see how this1does when I get a replacement.

Summary: Worked exactly as I had hoped.

Ordered the WET200 after several attempts at other solutions. I have3devices that are too far from my wireless router--(Directv DVR, Slingbox, and Xbox360)--so this really did the trick. there is even room for a couple more devices, as it has 5 ports.
Setup was relatively easy if you've done any router setup before, although it did seem as though the user manual assumed a certain base knowledge of networking, probably because it's considered a more advanced device to begin with. Anyway, I was up and running in about 15-20 minutes after configuring it. It's been running since I set it up (several weeks now) without any hiccups or need to reboot it.
I would definitely endorse this product for anyone who already has a wireless router however has multiple devices that are both, A: not wireless and B: too far to plug into their router.

Summary: full featured product if you need to share multiple devices over existing wifi
    Rating: 4 out of 5   Date: 2008-10-05
Ive just got my wet200. If your wanting to extend your home/office network to another part of your building/s however do not have the cable inbetween then this could be a solution.

i needed to share multiple lan devices off a wifi signal from my neighbour. this box allowed that, as it can share its connected wifi link with 5 lan ports via its switch capacity.

there was a slight issue as i have to connect to a wifi network with wep, not the better newer wap security standard.

i had been given the encoded passkey value however was inserting that into the wet200's interface in the wrong box. their interface supplies a space for password conversion into numeric passkeys. i had been pasting my passkey into the password conversion box, resulting in a wrong passkey being assigned. anyway, my fault really.

as soon as i realised this i got it up and running. great big antennae really help to grab the wifi signal and it seems stronger than my laptop connected directly from tests.
