Pros: It's a John Irving novel.
Cons: It's one cut below his best, but what isn't? Drags a little in the middle.
The Bottom Line: Good, entertaining novel with the sophisticated writing you would expect from John Irving. Engrossing as escapist literature. Funny, satisfying and admirable in style.
