If you liked Stone's JFK, then you'll like this one too
by pootzygirl, Nov 7, 2007
Pros: Anthony Hopkins most incredible performance
Cons: A lot of names and historical information makes it challenging to keep up with
The Bottom Line: If you are interested in Politics it's a good film to watch and discuss. If you need a quick review on Nixon, I think it's good for that too.
Review: I was born in 1971, when Nixon was in his 3rd year as President. Throughout my life, I never really ...

Those who Hate you Don't Win Unless you Hate Them Back
by Bryan_Carey, Dec 7, 2004
Pros: Anthony Hopkins and Joan Allen's performances; Stone's directing
Cons: Very long movie; Not entirely factual, but close
The Bottom Line: Nixon is a very good film about the former president but it will be easier to follow if you know your history.
Review: Many colorful personalities have occupied the office of the U.S. presidency. Some were known for gre ...

NIXON: "When they look at me, they see themselves." True on 11/2/04? YUP!!
by macresarf1, Oct 30, 2004
Pros: A magnificent film to contemplate while looking toward the dark future after President Bush's victory.
Cons: Some will say Stone is too easy on Nixon; others that he is too hard.
The Bottom Line: Oliver Stone, in his finest picture, suggests why we came to George Bush and John Kerry. He also gives a compelling, almost sympathetic portrait of Richard Nixon, a troubled man.
Review: THE MOVIE: Strangely enough -- or perhaps not -- NIXON begins in 1972 with a 16 mm. salesmen's train ...

As Nixon, Hopkins does a great Brando!
by truckturner, Jul 10, 2003
Pros: Powers Boothe, Paul Sorvino, some of the other supporting actors
Cons: Hopkins, Stone, Screenplay,
The Bottom Line: Could this be Stone's "Vertigo", revealing more about the director than the character? I'm not about to sit through it again to find out.
Review: This seemingly endless, wrong-headed excursion into the demented minds of two extremely paranoid peo ...

by williamchurch, Jan 20, 2003
Pros: Great plot, great acting, fantastic visuals, great sound, etc.
Cons: Not for those who want a no thought Dumb and Dumber style movie.
The Bottom Line: This movie will be analyzed and discussed in film classes 100 years from now. Nothing short of a masterpiece. A must have in the DVD collection.
Review: This is a movie that everyone knows how it ends, however it keeps you entertained. Why, because it ...

Cancer On The Presidency
by ecn71270, Jul 26, 2002
Pros: Hopkins' performance as Nixon; good performances by the supporting cast
Cons: Very long and, in many places, arguably quite speculative
The Bottom Line: However speculative it might be, NIXON is a must-see film for those who remember "Tricky Dick", and remember him quite well
Review: One must hand it to director Oliver Stone. When it comes to relatively recent American history, no ...

Richard XXXVII
by mikeyinaz, Aug 23, 2001
Pros: Anthony Hopkins as Nixon - uncanny!
Cons: Almost as long and drawn out as the Watergate scandal itself
The Bottom Line: Maturity and moderation finally catch up with Oliver Stone. Anthony Hopkins is masterful beyond description in his portrayal of Nixon.
Review: Oliver Stone has long been one of my favorite targets of criticism. As a self-appointed spokesman an ...
