great picture quality but complex and heavy

Pros: great picture quality (especially in low light) fast response
Cons: too heavy (but not too bulky) no autofocus in video video worflow is no-good dont recharge from usb
The Bottom Line: for people switching from point and shoot to a dslr you will find a great image quality (especially in low light) but at the cost of a heavy camera.

Pros: The dream printer and more.
Cons: Lots of cords.

Great, professional like quality camera

Pros: Durable, professional, Nikon. Best in its class in my opinion.
Cons: Design placement of flash meter on camera is odd, but does not affect performance.
The Bottom Line: Like all Nikon products, it is very durable and very professional. I've used three Nikons and they all still work great.

Nikon 5000 has widest Coolpix lens -- still

Pros: Small size. Widest Coolpix lens, plus adapter gets to 19mm. Firmware upgrade shoots in RAW.
Cons: Focus, flash in dark situations. Shutter lag, but Internet Firmware upgrade fixes.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for high quality photos with widest possible lens. Excellent image quality but firmware upgrade from Nikon is a must. It speeds up the shutter and adds RAW mode.

Pros: Pictures are perfect, nice small well built body
Cons: poor ergonomics, poor flash integration, poor viewfinder, autofocus almost useless
The Bottom Line: Shop around, new models have arrived on the market since 2001. If you get one, download the appropriate firmware patches to improve autofocus and fix some bugs
